In true style Kya finished her WTCH at the Montana Cow Country Classic this year with a 114 in Advanced Cattle. We also competed in the first ever ASCA Ranch Trial in Canada, earning our RTDc.

Now that Kya has finished her WTCH, she has been retired to the ranch and has handed over the bulk of the stockwork to her daughter Chili.

Kya still loves to work, and she gives me 110% every time. Kya, along with her daughter Chili and my horse are the management tools we use to handle our cow/calf operation. Our herd will never be large, however it would be unmanageable without a good dog or two. When our cows see the dogs coming they pretty much just start queueing up as they know they are going "somewhere".

Trialing in ASCA's Stockdog program is something I do for fun because I enjoy the competition and the comaraderie. My dogs enjoy it because they get to work, however their hearts are in their daily ranch work.
